Setting up your Mac

  1. Open Volero Host. Its window shows your access code. Click the Dock icon any time to see it again.
  2. Allow Screen Recording and Accessibility in System Settings › Privacy & Security. Without them, viewers see a black screen or can't click.
  3. Allow Local Network if macOS asks.

Connecting quickly

Scan the QR code shown in Volero Host with the Scan QR Code button, or just tap your Mac if it's already saved. Devices on the same iCloud account can connect with no code at all.

My Mac doesn't appear, or it says "Can't reach"

  • Both devices must be on the same Wi-Fi network (or the same iPhone hotspot).
  • Check System Settings › Privacy & Security › Local Network: Volero Host must be switched on.
  • Some guest and hotspot networks block devices from talking to each other. Try a home or office network.
  • Away from home, connect over your own iCloud, or add your Mac by address, for example with Tailscale. Volero uses port 5895.

"Wrong access code"

Enter the code shown in Volero Host on the Mac. If someone pressed "New code", the old one stops working — use the new one.
