What Volero is

Volero is a remote desktop for your Mac. From your iPhone, iPad, Apple Vision Pro, Apple Watch or another Mac, you see and control your Mac's full screen in real time — fast, private, and end-to-end, post-quantum encrypted. It connects your devices directly (device to device) with no account and no servers of ours. It's built entirely on Apple's own frameworks, so it feels native everywhere.

Two free apps: Volero Host on the Mac you want to reach, and Volero on the device you control from.

Getting started

1. Install Volero Host on your Mac — download it here. Open it and allow Screen Recording and Accessibility when macOS asks (that's what lets you see and control it).
2. Get Volero on your other device from the App Store (iPhone, iPad, Vision Pro, Mac — the Apple Watch app comes with it).
3. Connect: your Mac appears automatically on the same network. Tap it and enter the access code shown in Volero Host — or scan its QR code to skip typing. Devices on your own iCloud can connect with no code at all.
4. Trust your own devices once with "Always Allow" so future connections are instant. Optionally require Face ID first.

Controlling your Mac

Volero uses Apple's gesture frameworks, so control feels natural:

• Tap = click · double-tap = double-click
• One-finger drag = press-and-drag (select text, move things); pans when zoomed in
• Two-finger tap = right-click · two-finger drag = scroll · pinch = zoom
• Three-finger swipes = Spaces, Mission Control and App Exposé (like a Mac trackpad)
• Trackpad, mouse and hardware keyboard work exactly as on a Mac, including ⌘-shortcuts and the on-screen modifier bar (⌃ ⌥ ⌘, Esc, Tab, arrows)

Every Apple device

• iPhone — your whole Mac in your pocket; made for touch.
• iPad — a big, precise canvas with trackpad, keyboard and Apple Pencil.
• Apple Vision Pro — your Mac as a huge, sharp window in your space.
• Mac — control another Mac in a native window with full mouse + keyboard.
• Apple Watch — see your session live, play a sound to find the Mac, and use Siri / the Action button to connect or lock — with a Smart Stack widget for quick status.
• Siri, Shortcuts, Control Center, Live Activity & Spotlight — "Connect to Studio Mac," one-tap controls, and live session status, all built in.

Note: Volero controls Macs. No app can control an iPhone or iPad (Apple doesn't allow it) — but you can share an iPhone/iPad screen to a Mac (view only).

Connecting from anywhere

On the same network, your Mac appears automatically. Away from home, Volero reaches it over your own iCloud, or you can add your Mac by address — for example with the free tier of Tailscale, which gives each of your devices an address that works anywhere, no port-forwarding. It also uses direct IPv6 and router port-mapping when available.

Security & privacy

• End-to-end, post-quantum encrypted every session (X-Wing + AES); a wrong access code is rejected before a single pixel is sent.
• No servers, no account. Your screen goes straight between your own devices — there's nothing in the middle to see it.
• You approve every device, with optional Face ID, and can end any session instantly — even from Siri or the "being controlled" indicator on the Mac.
• Nothing collected. No analytics, no tracking, no ads — it says so on the App Store privacy label, and it's true. Your Mac list and access codes live only in your iCloud Keychain.

Volero for Business

Business adds what teams need, while keeping the same private, native-Apple foundation and a fair, per-account price (no per-seat tax, no annual lock-in):

• Your whole team — several people with shared, managed access.
• Shared address books — the team's Macs in one place, with per-person access.
• Unattended fleet — reach and manage many Macs, with live health and remote actions (lock, sleep, restart).
• Admin & audit — an admin console and a log of who connected to what, and when.

Troubleshooting

• Mac doesn't appear / "can't reach": both devices on the same Wi-Fi (or hotspot); in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Local Network, Volero Host must be on; some guest/hotspot networks block device-to-device — try a home/office network, or add the Mac by address.
• Black screen or can't click: grant Screen Recording and Accessibility to Volero Host in System Settings.
• "Wrong access code": use the current code in Volero Host — it changes if someone taps "New code".
• Stop a session: tap Stop on the Mac's "being controlled" indicator, or Disconnect on the device — it ends immediately and won't silently reconnect.
